“I've been blessed to work with some fine folks in the studio, but few have ever been as sincere or anointed in their Christian walk as Donnie & Brad Stevens and the men who make up the Stevens Family Tradition.”
— Steve Gulley
Stevens Family Tradition
Stevens Family Tradition is a bluegrass/gospel band based in southeast Kentucky that delivers originality, energy and honest music through a collection of fresh new material. They specialize in gospel and inspirational music that is sure to connect and engage their audience. The band consists of brother duo Brad and Donnie Stevens, Frank Farley, Trey Farley, Jimmy Smith and Jim Harp.
When Brad and Donnie decided to put this project together, it started as an idea to go in the studio and cut a record using musicians that had been friends, both musically and personally, over years of playing music. The chips fell in place as the band began cutting the record at The Curve Studio with Steve Gulley producing. The sound was so unique and felt right, that everyone decided to keep it going and become a performing band.
The recording process was so fruitful that the final product included all but two original songs written either by Brad, Donnie or their good friend Kevin Rice. This added further to the position of the band having a purpose and identity. To share their message and testimony through song, for the gory of God.
Stevens Family Tradition completed their debut record in the spring of 2017 and sent their first song to radio in September of that year. Their debut single, "The Call" (written by Donnie Stevens), reached #1 on the Singing News Bluegrass chart, with their second single, If God Brought You To It (written by Brad Stevens) on slate to be released in March of 2018. They were featured as spotlight artist on Les Butler's nationally syndicated show. "Les Butler and Friends."
Stevens Family Tradition has appeared at several churches, festivals and other venues and look forward to bringing their music to new audiences. The experience and performance record of each member of the band is vast. Being a new band, their appearances have included, but not limited to:
